G2 drive test practice, scene by scene

Get realistic G2 drive test practice before test day. The G2 Drive Test Simulation walks you through the Ontario G2 road test and runs in your browser on any phone or computer. An examiner reads each instruction aloud, you carry out the task, and you collect demerits for mistakes, just like the real road test. At the end, the examiner tells you whether you passed or need to retake. You can choose your examiner, Mr. Daniels or Jessa, each with their own voice.

    What the G2 simulation covers

    • Your examinerChoose Mr. Daniels or Jessa. Tap Sample to hear each one first, and switch any time from the title screen.
    • Before you driveLicence check, vehicle inspection (signals, horn, brakes) and safety checks.
    • Scene 1Pulling out using MSB, a full stop at a stop sign, and right of way at an all-way stop.
    • Scene 2A left turn with a gap in oncoming traffic, and a right turn with pedestrians and cyclists.
    • Scene 3Changing lanes safely, and managing your speed through a school zone.
    • Scene 4Parallel parking, including how to recover from a first attempt that misses.
    • Scene 5Uphill and downhill parking with a curb.
    • Scene 6The 3-point turn, and knowing when it's safe to make one.
    • Scene 7Reverse parking into a spot on your right and on your left.

    How scoring works

Small mistakes, like doing your checks out of order, earn a minor demerit. Dangerous or right-of-way errors, like rolling through a stop or turning in front of oncoming traffic, are an automatic fail. Finish with no auto-fail errors and four or fewer minor demerits to pass. This is practice scoring. On the official test, your examiner scores you using the MTO's own criteria.

Tips for passing your G2 road test

    • Use MSB every time you move off, turn or change lanes: Mirror, Signal, Blind spot.
    • Come to a complete stop behind the line at every stop sign, and count a slow three so your stop is unmistakable. Rolling stops are a common fail.
    • Drive in the right lane, and use the left lane only for passing.
    • Keep to the speed limit, without going over or driving noticeably slower than traffic.
    • When you park, finish close to the curb, then set the parking brake last.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is it free?

The licence check, vehicle inspection, safety checks and Scenes 1 and 2 are free to play. A one-time purchase unlocks Scenes 3 to 7 and the examiner's final pass or retake verdict. There's no subscription.

Is this the official MTO road test?

No. It's a practice tool that walks you through the kinds of tasks on the Ontario G2 road test, so test day feels familiar.

    Can I choose my examiner?

Yes. Pick Mr. Daniels or Jessa before you start, and tap Sample to hear their voices first. To switch later, tap the examiner button at the top of the title screen.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. It's designed to fit your phone screen, and it works on tablets and computers too.

    Does it save my progress?

Yes. Your progress is saved in your own browser, so you can pick up where you left off. Nothing is sent to us.

Can I go back and redo a task?

Yes. Use the Back button at the top. Redoing a task clears any demerits from it.
